Spring has Sprung!

Spring is here. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and pens are in the air. Well, not really.

The Namiki Nippon Art Flower Basket Fountain Pen

However, if you really want to celebrate spring with a pen, then the Namiki Nippon Art Flower Basket fountain pen is one way to do it. The Nippon Art Pen uses the beauty of the hira-maki-e technique against a beautiful black lacquer background. The flower basket design displays images of several flowers native to Asia. The fountain pen comes with a 14K gold nib, available in fine or medium. The pen comes in a traditional-style wood gift box from the Orient. This pen is available at many fine pen retailers, and would add functional beauty to any collection.

There are a lot of people who wear their watches on the side of their wrists. My father is one of them. He has a small flat spot on the side of his wrist, that his watch rests on perfectly. Not many watches fit this spot on his wrist, so he is picky about his watches. He only has a few, and he wears them because they feel comfortable on that spot on his wrist.

Side Watch manufactures watches for people like him–its watches are designed to be worn on the side of the wrist. Side Watch offers nine styles of watches, ranging from a simple fun-faced watch, to a chronograph with gems around the bezel. With tons of colors and faces to choose from, Side Watch may just be the perfect watch for side-wrist wearers!

A New Line From Seiko…But No Women’s Models!

At Baselworld 2009, Japanese watch manufacturer Seiko introduced its new line of watches. The International Ananta line incorporates some of the Seiko technology that was perviously available only in Japan. There are five styles available, including some spring drive models. However, there are no women’s models! All of the great technology that Seiko offers, and not one women’s model in the new line.

What’s on the Outside Can Be As Important As What’s on the Inside

The Paradise Pen Co., of Denver, CO, decided that people who like to use Sharpie pens should have a choice of what those Sharpies look like. The Sherpa is a pen cover or shell, designed to go over the body of a Sharpie pen. It will also fit several Uni-Ball pens, and Accent highlighters. It comes in ten great designs, and retails for $29.95. Visit Paradise Pen, or Sherpa Pens to see all of the styles!

Review: Swiss Legend Commander Women’s Watch

Looking for a nice chronograph? Take a look at the Swiss Legend Diamond Commander.

The Swiss Legend Commander series chronograph for women is not a watch for the faint at heart. With a 37mm case diameter, and a 14mm case thickness, it has a lot of size and heft. That said, it is a solid watch with lots of function.

The Commander’s chronograph face is easy to read. The Mother of Pearl contrasts nicely with the hands on all of the dials. The hands are curved, giving the face a feminine look, without losing any utility or readability. The date window sits at the 4:00 position, and the numbers are also easy to read.

It bears repeating that this is a heavy watch. If you are not used to wearing a heavy watch, then wearing a Commander will take some getting used to. The case is curved to accommodate the wrist, and makes the watch comfortable to wear, despite the weight. The band comes with two half links, to make sizing as exact as necessary for the wearer. It also comes with a screw-down crown, and caseback, making it waterproof to 300 meters.

Santa’s Elves Are Still Working!

Fountain Pen Hospital has a great deal on a beautiful sterling pen. Listed as a Super Special on the site, The Hospital has the Krone Sterling fountain pen on sale. Available with a fine, medium, or broad 18kt gold nib, this solid sterling silver pen is a thing of beauty. I love this pen. It is glorious to hold, and write with. I had the opportunity to handle one, and loved the experience.

So if Santa missed you this year, or you want to play Santa for yourself or another, here is your chance! I wonder if I should play Santa for myself…

Another Place for Watches

I just saw another online place for watch deals. Ashford is a web site offering deep discounts on watches, many at up to 80% off. One nice thing about the company is that it offers an area of “today’s specials” for watches. The “todays specials” area is a small selection of watches offered at below cost. While this may be too late for Christmas or Hanukkah, Valentine’s day is coming soon!

Time is Running Out!

For those of you who insist on waiting until the last minute to get gifts for Christmas, time is running out! There are, however, a few places that can still come through for you last-minute shoppers!

The Fountain Pen Hospital will take orders up to 1:00pm EST today for guaranteed delivery by December 23. Fountain Pen Hospital has many pens that will fill the bill, including some great late arrivals to the site.

Jetpens also has rush delivery for Christmas, with orders before 12:00pm EST.

World of Watches also has guaranteed delivery for Christmas, as well as free express delivery on orders over $200.00!
